"Building bridges over troubled water" is the central theme for an intercultural project which 5 senior schools have agreed to work on and its main aim is to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the participating countries. This cooperation between our schools and the increased awareness of the differences in our cultures and traditions , will help us to bridge the gap between each country and work towards eradicating prejudice, discrimination and racism. Our " bridges will be built " to connect people, countries and cultures and to transport ideas. They will help us to understand the past and the present and will provide a means of learning for the future. Understanding the past allows us to correct our errors and by building bridges we can undo the harm we have done to ourselves and to others. All partner schools will use English as their means of communication for the project. In addition the internet and other modern media like Skype will allow us to bridge the geographical miles between us.
Troubled water represents the incomprehension which often exists among the peoples of Europe and beyond. Our project will work towards calming those agitated and stormy waters and is also a small step towards a better understanding for the future. Troubled water also refers to the environment we live in and which we have already partly destroyed (e.g. by polluting our seas and rivers etc.). It is only by working together across our borders and by "constructing bridges" that global pollution problems can be solved and a healthy environment created.

Un ponte che ci aiuta a comprendere il passato, il presente ed un mezzo per affrontare il futuro; comprendere il passato ci permette di combattere gli errori commessi, costruire dei ponti è un modo per riparare il male fatto a noi stessi e agli altri.
Frontiere che ci portano a riflettere su noi stessi: Da dove veniamo? Chi siamo in realtà? Dove stiamo andando?
Consideriamo questo tema un approccio adatto a toccare problemi rilevanti della nostra vita contemporanea, quali la mancanza di comprensione a causa della immigrazione, emigrazione e dell’integrazione mancata. Tutti questi problemi hanno origine nelle storie specifiche dei nostri paesi che richiedono anche risposte specifiche allo scopo di affrontare le sfide future e di operare in sforzi congiunti. Quindi l'istruzione scolastica deve preparare i giovani a percepire la migrazione come un fenomeno ricorrente nelle storie dei nostri paesi oltre alla possibilità di apprendere nuove culture e di arricchire quindi la propria identità. Questo processo comporta inevitabilmente un confronto con abitudini sconosciute e la necessità di aprirsi per assicurare l'integrazione in un nuovo ambiente culturale.
I nostri studenti avranno la possibilità di confrontare le realtà così come le loro speranze e paure per il futuro, e quindi allargare il loro orizzonte sui problemi che riguardano tutti noi.
